Le Roy et Fils, of the Palais Royal, Paris; an Anglaise Riche cased Grande Sonnerie, hour and quarter repeating, alarm carriage clock, with an applied porcelain Arabic chapter ring, bearing the makers details above a subsidiary alarm dial within an applied arabesque fretted mask and sides, flanked by Corinthian column quarter pillar, the underside with a large recessed "T" winding handle and chime selector. Movement, case and key numbered 8247, housed in a leather travel box, 20.5 cm high (handle up).

Le Roy operated from Galerie Montpensier, 13-15 Palais-Royal, where they were to remain for nearly a hundred years. Le Roy was appointed a clockmaker to the Emperor Napoleon, amongst other prestigious clients.

The balance does not respond to agitation, with the clock not currently in running order.

The front lens has a shell chip top right corner

Sides and back have original grills/panels rather than lenses
