A rare mid-17th-century engine-turned lignum vitae and white metal-mounted tankard, English, circa 1650, the hinged cover with acorn finial, the cylindrical body worked with bands of basket weave, scrolled handle, 17 cm high x 20 cm wide (to include handle).

Likely replacement feet. The cover with losses to the thumb hold, and fixing is loose. Dents and loss to the metal mounts throughout. Some natural splits to the wood in places.
