Dawsons Discovery

Lot 136

Star Wars: a pre-production 'revised fourth-draft' script from the production of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope (released 1977). This 156-page script is credited to Lucas, and dated "March 15th, 1976", the title page features the title 'The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the "Journal of the Whills" above '(Saga 1) Star Wars', which was the original working title for the film.

It is accompanied by a typed letter, dated January 1983, from an unknown sender, to 'Dorrie', reading: 'As you open the pages to this script, so too will you open the doors to one man's imagination. The next few pages have gone down in cinematic history as being one of the most popular and successful films of all time. George Lucas, the creator of STAR WARS, allowed his imagination to flow on paper and eventually film, and showed us that almost anything is possible with enough perseverance and determination. I truly hope this script provides some inspiration for you in times of need, and I hope it helps remind you that goals are reachable. For me must remember the great master Yoda, "You must do, or do not. There is not [sic] try". Dorrie, you're a wonderful person and I look forward to being a friend of yours until time comes to an end. May the FORCE be with you always..'
