A rare 1965 Omega Speedmaster 'Ed White' ref. 105.003 stainless steel chronograph wristwatch the matte black dial with luminous Tritium baton hour markers and white hands, and a fifths of seconds track, three dials for seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour registers, marked 'T Swiss Made T' with black tachymeter bezel, in a stainless steel case, the case back with engraved Omega Hippocampus. The mechanical hand wound 17 jewel cal. 321 movement numbered 24001247. With original antimagnetic dust cap. The case back stamped ST 105 003-65. The stainless steel bracelet numbered No. 13, 7912, 2 65. 39 mm case. Note: The pre-moon Omega Speedmaster reference 105.003 is known as the 'Ed White' Speedmaster as this reference was worn by NASA Astronaut Edward Higgins "Ed" White (1930-1967) when he was the first American to walk in space in 1965. The reference 105.003 was only produced for around three years from 1963 and then superseded by the 'Professional' reference version 105.012 which, famously, was worn on the moon landing in 1969. Typical features of the "Ed White" pre-moon Speedmaster are the straight lugs, lack of crown guards and signed on the dial Omega Speedmaster, without the Professional signature.
