This painting is a transitional early work that defines Melkonian's signature landscape style. The artist was directly influenced by the stark but breathtakingly beautiful region of Sistan-Balouchestan in south eastern Iran.

Condition Report
Unlined. Losses to the right edge, and a few scattered flecks of loss elsewhere. Surface dirt throughout and 2 or 3 small white paint splatters. Light scuffing visible centre left of composition. There is a vertical drip through the centre of the white part of the composition, lower centre. There is no evidence of restoration visible under UV light.
