Condition Report

Both chairs have been through the mill and show a number of poor but effective reapairs, the legs have been reduced and the front legs show signs of turned pegs inserted presumably to effect the re-fitting of some former cup castors, strangely the bottom knop of the legs seems to be gilded twine!!!

having removed the dust cover from one chair it is apparent that some elements are period but some seem to be teplacements but the frames show signs of runs from being washed back and repainted and some gilded.

I have eased of the domes of silence from a foot and it shows evidence of being reduced.

To sum up these chairs are a mix of old and more recent components and these are therefore NOT wholly period but nevertheless very decorative.

Please see the extra images supplied.

The chairs show knocks and wear consistent with rough use but the former repairs are effective if a little crude and render the frames solid/ rigid,

the seat rails show some slight historic wood worm flight holes but not to the point of powdery infestation, "just a light peppering"?
