Founded in Vicenza (1929) by Umberto Cazzola, Fope began as a small workshop producing gold chains and metal watch straps for other jewellers. From the outset, the company focused on quality and design, establishing the foundations for its growth into a global luxury brand. The Cazzola family, now in its fourth generation, continues to lead the company, maintaining its heritage while guiding its development.
During the mid-20th century, Fope expanded from chain manufacturing to full jewellery collections. Its reputation grew through the integration of modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. In the 1980s, Fope launched the Flex’it system, a patented design using gold springs in bracelets and rings to provide a comfortable, stretchable fit without sacrificing elegance or durability. The Flex’it collection distinguished Fope in the industry and became a defining feature of the brand.

Today, Fope is famous for its blend of classic Italian style and ingenuity, characterised by intricate meshwork (the Novecento mesh) and subtle diamond accents. The Flex’it lines, including Eka, Vendôme, and Solo, epitomise the brand’s ethos, luxury that is both wearable and versatile. Frequent red-carpet appearances, adorning stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Rihanna, ensure the brand stays relevant and highly desirable.

Fope is also known for its commitment to sustainability and ethical procurement, which appeals to buyers who value transparency and responsibility. The brand is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), reflecting its determination to raise environmental and social standards throughout the jewellery supply chain.

As with many luxury brands, the resale market for Fope jewellery, particularly at auction, is robust. The desirability and quality of pieces make them attractive to collectors and investors. Auction houses such as Dawsons regularly feature Fope items, especially the Flex’it collections, which are widely sought after in the secondary market for their innovative Italian design, comfort, and celebrity cachet. The fashion for yellow gold jewellery has also positively affected Fope’s popularity. Valuations reflect both the workmanship and the brand’s reputation, with good condition items fetching premium prices.
While newer pieces may sell near retail prices, vintage items offer the chance to acquire Fope’s blend of tradition and contemporary style at more competitive prices. Auctions also provide opportunities to purchase rare or discontinued Fope pieces, often resulting in enthusiastic bidding from collectors.
