John Fladgate, a fine 18th-century brass inlaid ebony twin fusee table clock in the Louis XV Rocaille style, with exuberant ormolu mounts and floral inlay, the applied white enamel Roman chapter ring with satin matted dial centre with strike/ silent selector at 6. o'clock and bearing the legend Jn (John) Fladgate London, the five pillar movement with engraved backplate, striking the hours on a single bell, the whole supported on leafy scroll feet. 31 cm wide x 65 cm overall height

John Fladgate is recorded as working between 1743 and 1792 when he died his widow continued the business.

Condition Report

The clock winds on both trains and has been running without hesitation for the last hour, I will update this as time goes by, the clock chimes the correct hour at the allotted hour..

The clock case is in relatively good order with only very minor lifting of a small area of brass stringing, the clock comes with its correct pendulum and a possibly later 18th-century "Kidney Bow" clock key.

I did not see any form of signature to the case but I am reluctant to disturb the clock until it has run for at least several hours.

The bezel door does not have a key and is a snap-type spring lock that locks as it is closed (very simple key required but not present)

All ormolu mounts are present and in good order.

A good honest clock from a private household.
